Kimber and Nate

Today I was able to do a really fun wedding. Kimber and Nate got married on a very stormy Saturday but her night brightened up when she walked into the church where her reception was being held.

Kimber's colors were dark purple and lime green; very Spring-y. They had their reception at an older church with a unique set-up. Their receiving line was in the lobby and it led into the cultural hall which had tables, food, and cake. We put up the Jen backdrop with a dark purple valence in the lobby and topped the whole thing off with a light "tent" and paper lantern chandelier.

The tables in the cultural hall had purple satin overlays and green table runners. We finished it off with a classic ceiling with paper lanterns lit with green and white lights. The room was enchanting. I sometimes get very jealous of the decorations of my clients. It always makes me wish I could redo my own reception. ;)

New for Spring 2009

I am so excited to jump into the 2009 Wedding Season. It officially starts this weekend with the Provo High Bridal Fair and doesn't end until August. I am thrilled to have so many fun clients to work with and ideas to try out.

I found these great new ideas that I am dying to try. I found them on a website from a company based in Toronto. I don't think they will mind too much if I copy them, as I am definitely not their competition.

I'm going to attempt something similar to this for the Bridal Fair, in different colors of course:

Hopefully I'm not the only one who thinks these are sweet. I would love to do this for a wedding!

Tobiany and Josh

I love the season I call Spring Break. This is the time after the Valentine's Day weddings and before the end of the semester in April. It's the planning time when I get everything ready for the BIG wedding season. So, even though it seems that I took the month of March off, I was actually working pretty hard. We bought and built a new backdrop of black wrought iron and we are excited to debut that in May.

This week I got a phone call from Tobiany to do a last minute backdrop for her wedding. She requested our most popular pillar backdrop along with a black drape behind to cover an unsightly wall. I felt fortunate that I was able to do it for her.

Tobiany and Josh had chosen a dark burgundy wine as their color, accented with bright spring flowers. We added a couple of extra curtains to this backdrop to fill it out a little more. I decided that I liked that look a lot better.

Sharylann & George

I have known Sharylann for years, we used to work together planning conferences and workshops for a university. Her wedding was so exciting to plan, and it was a blast to be able to take part in all of the preparations.

Shar's colors were red and black with a real modern twist on traditional elegance. I think this wedding actually turned out to be one of my favorite's. We put up our most popular backdrop, draped it in gorgeous red (just like the for the Valentine's Dance) but I added some extra swag to the front to create a more graceful effect. To add a modern twist, I also added red and black spangle branches that I used in the centerpieces. It really tied the room together nicely.

The backdrop behind the cake was draped in black with a shiny red ribbon running through it. I loved it! It turned out perfectly . :)

In a clever attempt to decorate a blank wall, we put up large frames, scrapbook paper, and Shar's bridal pictures to create a collage effect and dress it up a bit. In the end it really added a lot to the room.

On top of decorations, we also provided two fountains, one chocolate and one nacho cheese, oh and of course the punch fountain. I have to tell you how much the guests raved about the food! I even found comments on Facebook about how great it was. :)

All in all, it was a really fun event. In the end it's really all about making the day as perfect as possible for the couple getting married, and it's always wonderful to have a hand in that.

The Valentine's Dances

Valentine's Day would not be complete without a romantic dance. This year I decorated for two of them! Obviously we used light pinks, red, and maroon flowers to decorate for love's best holiday. We were limited by time, as we had strict deadlines on when we could decorate, otherwise I am sure I would have gone overboard both nights.

I used our lovely Brass Arch (that reminds one of a heart) and it's matching flower stands in front of the entrance to the dance. I also used our 3 natural wood arches decked in flowers and lanterns around the room to create a softly lit ambiance. In addition to this, I created a corner for pictures to be taken.

The February Bridal Fair

What an exciting month! February 7, 2009 was the Provo High Bridal Fair. I had so much fun decorating the booth in this year's "IT" colors of Bright Pear Green and Dark Robin's Egg Blue. I hung up this year's best accessory, paper lanterns, and it looked great.

I always have a lot of fun when I get to work out all of my creative energy on something that is so very me. :)

Something else that is really fabulous this year are the fishbowls. I decorated the inside with bear grass and my famous water beads completed the look, topped with green Gerbera Daisies. My other awesome centerpiece was a 2 ft tall square vase with floating beads and ribbon, topped by flowers and a little bit of whimsy. This was my favorite!

Fountains of Cheesiness

I did a wedding on Saturday that was a little bit different than I have done before so I thought I would share it with you. As you know, in addition to my regular decorating, I also do Chocolate Fountains. I had a client whose dream was to have a cheese fountain at his wedding. He didn't care about anything except the cheese. His fiance was a little skeptical, but after consulting me, she got really excited. I gave her some ideas of the food that could be served with the cheese and she signed a contract right then and there. I was a little nervous, having never put anything other than chocolate in my fountains, but I knew it could be done.

While the cheese obviously didn't run as quickly as chocolate does, it was still pretty cool to see. Men literally started drolling when they saw it. People were taking pictures and wishing they had one for their Super Bowl parties. All in all, it was a good experience. It should be interesting to see if this idea catches on.
