Ted and Donna's 50th Wedding Anniversary

My grandparents, Ted and Donna, just had their 50th wedding anniversary on June 9. To celebrate, we threw them a lovely party and invited all their family and friends.

Back in 1960, when my grandparents were married, their wedding color was pink, so I made sure that all the flowers were pink and accented with green, hoping to bring a garden theme to the room.

Melissa of Tickled Pink Floral helped me with the centerpieces and all the other flowers. They looked fantastic! They were elegant in their simplicity.

We brought in the black arch to showcase the cake. I put champagne colored organza and a sprinkling of pink roses on the arch. My dad did a wonderful job baking the cake and making it structurally strong. Melissa and I then decorated the cake with ribbon, flowers, and edible pearls. Not bad for amateurs :).

I think the event turned out really nicely. Here's to another 50 years Grandma and Grandpa! ;)

Andrea and Tim

We had another wedding over this rainy weekend. Andrea and Tim got married at the lovely Alpine Arts Center outside right between the rain bursts. Very lucky! Even luckier was that they planned their reception for indoors, as it continued to rain the rest of the day. I have been friends with Andrea's older sister for about 12 years now and it was fun to see the whole family again.

Andrea's colors were a sunny mix of red and yellow, perfect for the overcast day. We put up a lovely dropped ceiling to warm up the room.

The backdrop was the pipe and drape, covered in a yellow drape and spotlit from the bottom to give a soft, rippling event on the curtains. We also put up a matching cake backdrop which we spotlit from above to showcase the cake.

The tables had yellow sashes on the chairs and bright red overlays. The family then put on cute centerpieces of lanterns and river pebbles.

Congratulations Andrea and Tim! Enjoy your honeymoon in Disneyland and I hope your marriage is as sunny as your reception was!

Ashley and Brady

Last week, on a very rainy Friday, Ashley and Brady got married and had their reception in the Mapleton Barn that evening. They are such a cute couple and we were privileged to decorate for their special event.

The Mapleton Barn is an absolutely charming place. I have been to many weddings there and have seen it dressed up in a variety of ways. It has a really nice rustic, yet clean feeling, making it perfect for any event. Honestly, it doesn't need much to dress it up, but we were really happy with how it looked after we got done.

We brought in our famous dropped tent ceiling and put it up between the enormous rustic iron chandeliers that were already in the room.

Ashley's colors were lemon and lime, very bright and springy. The colorful sashes on the chairs really helped brighten up the room in contrast to the pouring rain outside.

Finishing touches included running lights down the center pillars and the shepherd hooks outside, leading to the doorway (complete with flickering candle LED's).

Congratulations Ashley and Brady! It was a pleasure working with you!
