Mysha & Stephen

I've known Mysha since she was about 12 years old, as her mother was my adviser/mentor for most of my college experience. Since that time she has grown up to become a beautiful young lady and last Friday she married her sweetheart Stephen. They are such an adorable couple! I've been working quite closely with them for a number of months to plan their wedding and reception and after all our hard work and late nights (at least 3 very late nights) the whole event came together beautifully.



Mysha's initial inspiration were peacock feathers but we eventually moved toward a combo of the typical peacock colors (blue, green, purple) and added an electric fuchsia to the mix to reflect Mysha's bright personality. We also decided to add some elegance in the form of crystal accents which we added to centerpeices, the backdrop, and a gorgeous, 4ft long chandelier.



We put up our ever-popular "Jen Backdrop" using black satin as the canvas of the drape and adding the bright colors on top. I also included a beaded curtain that caught the light and which the bridesmaids said gave the impression of a waterfall.



The cake backdrop was originally going to match the main backdrop, but at the last minute I decided to add some flair and wrapped the black drape a bit differently and only included a slight dash of blue. In the end I preferred this contemporary leaning more than our original plan.



The centerpieces were peacock feathers and calla lilies in a rather contemporary arrangement, surrounded by bright runners in a crinkled taffeta fabric. These runners are fantastic when we want to add texture to the linens and they are very complementary with satin overlays. For this wedding, we used black satin as our base on the tables and the chairs, giving the entire ensemble a very classy look. The black was also a good opposite for the multiple vibrant colors. Too much color and the room could have easily gone toward a circus feel.





On top of the decorations, I also catered this reception. We pulled out our two gorgeous chocolate fountains and put dark chocolate in one and white chocolate in the other. We paired them with huge, flavorful strawberries, cream puffs, pretzels, pineapple, green apples, and gummy bears. Additionally, we served chicken salad on baguettes and mini raspberry trifles (which were heavenly).
