Mermaid Birthday Party

In addition to weddings, we love helping to plan and decorate a great party. We were recently very fortunate to be able to work on the birthday party for a 6 year old girl who loves mermaids.

Together with the mother and birthday girl, we planned the decorations, the food menu, and provided all the party extras, including food tags, pearl necklace party favors, and were on hand to handle logistics. The goal was to make it really fun for the girls without going overboard. We kept the food and the decorations simple and everyone enjoyed themselves.

The girls sat here on pillows to eat. Each plate was decorated with a starfish or seahorse ornament that were given to the guests as party favors:

The food was amazing but simple and the girls loved it!

The birthday girl requested a mermaid tail cake so we helped mom plan how to make and decorate it. The girls loved it!

Dyamond and Darrien

This past weekend we had the good fortune to decorate the wedding and reception for an adorable couple, Dyamond and Darrien. They were wonderful to work with and we enjoyed every bit of the journey, all the way through the design process to the fabulous implementation.

The wedding was held at The Gem Theater and the wedding was at The American Jazz Museum, both of which are in the historic 18th and Vine district of Kansas City. Dyamond chose her colors and theme to match the classic elegance of the jazz age, using red, gold and ivory as her main colors, with her bridesmaids in black. Overall, we kept the decor really simple, but the end result was gorgeous. 

In addition to the decor, we were able to provide all the bridal party flowers, including this gorgeous bouquet of red roses with diamond pins in the center of the roses. 

For the wedding ceremony, we put up our 10ft pipe and drape backdrop with lace curtains and a gold drape. We also brought in two short pillars and topped them with two small vases of roses. On the stairs leading up to the stage we placed 4 tall vases with gold fabric inside, topped with red flower balls.

The reception featured a 20ft backdrop with red satin drape. We brought the pillars over from the ceremony and used them again for the reception. 

We really dressed the head table up with a gold candelabra that we crowned with flower ball of white hydrangea and red roses. We placed pearl and diamond pins in the center of the roses for an extra sparkle.  

For the centerpieces, we used red roses in a gold vase, topped with 3 small white ostrich feathers. We draped the vases with crystal strands and placed them on top of mirrors. We finished the tables off with 3 gold mercury glass votives and sprinkles of red petals and diamond jewels. 

The bridal party tables had a taller golden vase with a flower ball and two mercury glass vases with red pebbles and floating candles. 

We were also able to finish off the cake with a few large roses and a little extra bling. 

The last details included the ivory satin tablecloths and the red satin chair ties which we provided. We also placed a second candelabra on the guest book table, along with the toss bouquet (which was identical to the bridesmaids bouquets) to welcome the guests into the reception.

We really enjoyed working with this lovely bride and groom and the wonderful staff of The American Jazz Museum who helped pull off this beautiful celebration. Thanks for letting us be part of your special day!

Catrina and Matt

We had a unique opportunity to coordinate and pull together an entire wedding in 10 days! The bride and groom decided to get married very quickly with a very small budget and came to us to help pull it all together. We love these kinds of challenges!

Gina (our assistant wedding designer) and Annalee (our main designer) met with Catrina for a couple of hours and figured out all the details. Catrina found the perfect dress within her budget off a sample rack and we found the perfect location. As we were only expecting around 30 people, we put together a simple backyard wedding with a rustic charm theme and yellow as her main color.

The backyard didn't need much decorating as it was filled with gorgeous flowers and beautifully landscaped but we brought in our wrought-iron arch and draped it with some burlap fabric. We then hung from the arch mason jars with candles and flowers. It was gorgeous.

We brought in our fabulous harpist, Stephanie, to play before and during the ceremony. Her music created the perfect atmosphere for the occasion.

Gina and I are normally not bakers, but we've hosted enough of our own special parties that in this case we made an exception and made the red velvet cupcakes and the one-tiered wedding cake.  They were a pretty big hit. We also served lemonade and water, which was perfect as the weather was pretty hot.

We decorated the cake table with more hanging mason jars and some rustic monogram letters that we made and hung above the cake.

We also made the bride's bouquet with a wildflower, rustic theme, featuring yellow and white flowers, the highlight being some gorgeous sunflowers.

Maram

We were delighted to be able to provide a gorgeous backdrop for Maram on her special day! She held her reception at the Cotillion in Blue Springs. Her colors were gold and turquoise and she wanted an elegant, yet simple decor theme.

We provided a ten foot wide pipe and drape, with gold and turquoise draping across the top and down the sides. Our two short pillars were then used to hold flower arrangements next to two light trees. The backdrop was exactly as she hoped and was a beautiful final touch.

For her centerpieces, she had gold vases topped with turquoise flower balls and turquoise crinkled taffeta runners and chair sashes.

The entire room was gorgeous. Thanks again Maram for letting us help with your beautiful wedding!

Roshy and Zirak

We had the privilege of decorating a lovely wedding for a lovely couple this past weekend. They had a two day event, with the wedding on the first day and the reception the next evening. The entire celebration was elegant and beautiful, as was the bride.

The wedding was held at the Shawnee Civic Center and on the stage we built a lovely pipe and drape backdrop with gold drape and 2 gold panels tied with burgundy sash.

The centerpieces were 3 vases of varied height with a burgundy rose in each vase and some pearl/diamond bling wired to the roses. These were sitting atop a square mirror on gold tablecloths.

The reception was held at the Ball Conference Center in Olathe. The colors of the day were silver and blue and room was decorated with a clean elegance. The centerpieces were white flower balls with crystals and the room was accented with purple uplights along the walls. 

On the stage we put up the pipe and drape backdrop again, but this time it had a silver sash with 3 paneled sections consisting of silver and royal blue panels.

We had such a great time decorating for this wonderful occasion! Congratulations again to the happy couple!

Shelley and Austin

We love a good country wedding every now and then, so we were delighted to decorate Shelley and Austin's beautiful wedding and reception. The event was held at Acquaint Gathering in Grain Valley, MO, which is a charming little chapel-turned-reception-hall, perfect for a rustic, country, or vintage themed wedding.

Shelley's colors were hot pink and yellow, bright colors to match the bright and summery June day with it's perfect weather. We were excited to provide the bridal party flowers and used roses that were both yellow and pink. They were absolutely gorgeous and smelled lovely!

The ceremony took place outside at the pergola installed on the side of the hall. The pergola is covered in green wisteria branches, but we added some color by sticking white and yellow daisies throughout. We also hung fuchsia organza down the front pillars and arranged two tall floral pieces compiled of daisies and wildflower-esque flowers.

Down the aisle we hung mason jars with white and yellow daisies on shepherd hooks and tied with lace and twine.

Inside the hall, the centerpieces were each a little different. Some had small white lanterns, others fuchsia pink mason jars with candles, and each with different floral arrangements sitting atop wooden disks.

Other touches around the room included the sweetheart table accented with candle-holders and small floral arrangements and the gorgeous cake display,
