Valentine Dance

Hello Friends! This past weekend we had a great time decorating for a Valentine's dance. Sadly, in my rush I left the camera home and my phone's camera has never been quite the same after it went swimming in the toilet. Nevertheless, we did the best we could. :)

Below is a picture of the room with the lights off and with my cute husband in the foreground. You will notice that we also put white spotlights around the room to use ambient lighting rather than the harsh iridescent gymnasium lights.

The backdrop was based on Suzan's lovely backdrop with slightly less lights and flowers and with different flower arrangements on the pillars.

I also neglected to get a good picture of the centerpieces, but they were very similar to the one below with red flowers and crystal strands. We also put small red spotlights on each table, up-lighting the branches.

It's always fun to spend the holidays decorating for a magnificent party, and the chocolate fountain buffet was a nice treat as well. ;)

Backdrops!

Have you ever wished you could just see all the backdrops we have done in one easy place? We have created so many backdrops in so many different variations that it would take ages to go through our entire blog searching for them. Here are some of our very favorite backdrops for your viewing pleasure!


The Pipe and Drape Backdrop: In it's most basic form this is a 20ft wide by 8ft tall frame on which we hang white sheer curtains and a drape of color across the top and down the sides. Lighting can be in the form of white string lights or up-lighting.

To make it a bit more fancy we can add pillars and additional drapery:

 We can also use do a paneled version using a 10 ft section and hang panels of fabric rather than the sheer curtains. This is more of a statement piece.

The Jen Backdrop: I created this for my little sister who asked for a new "flowy" backdrop. It has since become one of our most popular and uses 4 pillars with sheer fabric draping between the pillars and a "frame" of colored drape across the top and down the sides. This backdrop is usually between 12 and 15ft wide. 

Sometimes we create smaller, "condensed" versions to place behind the cake.

Wrought Iron Arch Backdrop: This is a simple 8ft tall wrought iron arch that looks lovely when wrapped in fabric.

Hanging Flower Backdrops: Using our 10ft x 8ft pipe frame, we have hung flowers in mason jars from twine to create a romantic, vintage vibe.

For a recent youth fashion show, we added vintage sewing patterns in frames along with baby's breath in mason jars.

Rustic and Vintage Backdrop Variations: We also are able to create new backdrops from various pieces we are able to acquire such as antique doors, fencing and pallet wood.

Manmeet and Gagan

This past weekend we were able to decorate a gorgeous wedding for a lovely couple. They had a 2-day celebration so we were able to create 2 lovely backdrops for them, one for the wedding day and one for the reception the following day. Additionally, we created 45 centerpieces for the reception and the end result was nothing short of stunning.

Wedding Day:

The couple requested a pipe and drape paneled backdrop for their wedding with two short pillars. I believe the bride put vases with lit candles on top of the pillars but I wasn't there to get a picture of that. The colors on the wedding day were magenta pink, gold, and green.

Reception Day:

By the time we finished setting up the decor on the day of the reception, the lights had been dimmed and the pink uplights (which were amazing!) were turned on so our pictures are not as clear as they may have been had the regular room lights been on. We did manage to get a couple of pictures of the backdrop the next day before we took it down, so that helps.

The reception colors were silver and baby pink, however, at the last minute the napkins arrived and were magenta so we added a magenta ribbon to the backdrop to tie it all together.

Centerpieces: There were two centerpieces, a tall one (with natural branches and hanging crystals in a tall vase with waterbeads and a pink LED light) and a short one (with 3 vases of varying heights, with two of the vases holding twigs and floating candles and the third vase had a pink snapdragon and a white LED light in waterbeads. They looked gorgeous!
